North Carolina DMV Express Branding

Challenge:

The challenge was to create a unified brand identity that would instill trust, accessibility, and efficiency among residents using the kiosks for government services. The branding needed to reflect governmental reliability while appealing to a diverse demographic within the jurisdiction.

Goals:

1. Brand Establishment: Develop a strong, authoritative brand identity that reflects the jurisdiction’s commitment to public service excellence.

2. User Engagement: Increase awareness and usage of the kiosk program among residents, promoting convenience and accessibility.

3. Operational Efficiency: Ensure consistency in branding across all kiosk locations to streamline operations and maintain a cohesive user experience.

4. Public Trust: Build public trust and confidence in the kiosk program’s reliability and security of government services.

Strategy:

1. Brand Development: Developed a brand strategy emphasizing transparency, accessibility, and professionalism. Created a comprehensive brand identity including:

• Logo and Visual Identity: Designed a logo that incorporates elements symbolizing community, government services, and modernity. Chose colors and typography that evoke trust and reliability. I kept the same colors as their North Carolina DMV website to help tie the two program’s identify together.

• Branding Guidelines: Established clear guidelines for consistent application of the brand across all kiosks and communication channels.

• Digital and Physical Assets: Designed program decals, kiosk screens, and created tv topper videos to ensure a seamless user experience and reinforce brand messaging.

1. Positive Reception: The new branding effectively communicated the jurisdiction’s commitment to modernizing public service delivery, receiving positive feedback from the jurisdiction.

2. Increased Usage: Encouraged greater usage of kiosks for accessing government services, contributing to improved public service accessibility and efficiency.

3. Operational Consistency: Ensured consistent branding across all kiosk locations, facilitating smooth operations and enhancing user trust and satisfaction.

Conclusion:

The branding project for the jurisdiction’s new kiosk program demonstrates my ability to create impactful brand identities that resonate with diverse customers. By combining strategic insights with creative execution, I successfully positioned the kiosk program as a reliable and accessible resource for residents, fostering community trust and engagement.
