Colorado Driver Testing Postcard

Crafted for Colorado’s online testing program, @HOME, this postcard spotlights "HOME" as its central theme, emphasized by its scale and bold weight.

The carefully selected photograph captures dynamic movement, with the subject’s body language naturally drawing the viewer’s gaze upward towards the headline. Utilizing a predominantly black and white color scheme ensures clarity and simplicity, while strategic use of selective color establishes a clear visual hierarchy, ensuring that essential program information stands out as the primary focus.

Driver Testing Social Media Content

KnowTo Drive is a driver’s knowledge testing program offered by ITI to jurisdictions. What sets this program apart is its unique feature allowing test takers to conveniently complete their driver’s test from home or any preferred location.

ITI takes pride in crafting and managing engaging social advertisements for jurisdictions, aimed at raising awareness and enhancing public understanding of the program. These ads are strategically designed to inform and empower individuals, fostering widespread participation and support for KnowTo Drive across communities.

. . .

Colorado's @HOME Social

I crafted compelling social media ads for Colorado’s @HOME knowledge testing program, showcasing its convenience and simplicity. The graphics feature a clean and minimalist style, ensuring viewers can easily grasp the ease of taking driving knowledge tests from home. I employed diverse color schemes to add visual interest while maintaining a cohesive illustrative approach throughout.

To resonate with the target audience of parents and teenagers, I infused a youthful vibe into the designs through vibrant colors and engaging graphics. This approach not only captures attention but also effectively communicates the program’s accessibility and relevance to its demographic.

. . .

Jurisdiction’s Holiday Social Content

I crafted dynamic social content tailored for jurisdictions to leverage during key holidays. My designs are strategically aimed at expanding outreach and encouraging greater participation in programs.

Each social media ad is meticulously designed, with color schemes inspired by holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. These designs consistently highlight the simplicity and convenience of the online testing program. By focusing on user-friendly visuals and compelling messaging, I effectively communicate the program’s benefits while engaging a diverse audience during festive seasons.

Oregon Online Testing Media Kit

In collaboration with Oregon DMV, I had the privilege to lead the design efforts for creating office collateral and digital assets for the launch of the Oregon Online Testing program. This project aimed to effectively communicate key information to diverse audiences in both English and Spanish languages.

. . .

Office Collateral Design: I conceptualized and crafted a range of office collateral in English, including posters, a flyer, postcard, and sticker. Each piece was meticulously designed to align with the program's branding guidelines while presenting clear and concise information about the Oregon Online Testing program. The office collateral served as essential tools for on-site promotions, ensuring clarity and accessibility of information.

. . .

Bilingual Digital Assets Development: Simultaneously, I developed digital assets tailored for online platforms, ensuring they were available in both English and Spanish. This encompassed designing bilingual social media graphics, digital banners for websites, and pop-up banners. These assets were strategically crafted to enhance online visibility, promote engagement across digital platforms, and effectively communicate the program's objectives and benefits to a diverse audience.

. . .

User-Centered Approach: Throughout the design process, I employed a user-centered approach. I made a conscious effort to source imagery that featured individuals from various ethnicities, backgrounds, and cultures. This approach ensured that the designs not only met the program's goals but also resonated effectively with the younger target audiences in both English and Spanish-speaking communities.

. . .

Impact and Success: The culmination of these efforts resulted in a cohesive suite of office collateral and bilingual digital assets that effectively promoted the new Oregon Online Testing program. By combining creativity with strategic design, I contributed to enhancing program visibility, fostering community engagement, and supporting the program's mission to advance educational excellence through innovative testing solutions.

South Dakota License Plates

I created a variety of custom license plate designs created specifically for South Dakota. Each design reflects the state's unique identity and was meticulously crafted to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

. . .

In 2023, South Dakota underwent a redesign of their standard “free” plates, prompting collaborative efforts with my colleagues to meet with state officials and understand their vision for the new designs. A primary requirement was that Mount Rushmore be prominently featured on both plates, which served as the central focus of my designs.

I created several different mockups that included different elements that South Dakota is known for, such as pheasants and the badlands. I collaborated with the state and made revisions they requested, until they were happy with the new plate designs.

. . .

Beyond the standard plates, I also designed new plates for South Dakota's Highway Patrol, Motor Carrier, and others utilizing that same base template. These specialized plates were crafted in a sleek black and silver color scheme, with a simplified yet dominant depiction of Mount Rushmore. To ensure visual cohesion across all designs, I integrated a silver border that echoed the shape found in several existing plates throughout the jurisdiction.

This project underscores my ability to merge creative vision with practical requirements, delivering cohesive and visually impactful designs that resonate with both the jurisdiction and the public alike.

. . .

Most recently, I was asked to design a new EMS plate for the state. To maintain consistency with South Dakota’s existing plate lineup, we retained the signature blue color used on several other designs. The EMS text and logo was placed prominently on the left-hand side, serving as the key visual element. I opted for a clean, minimal background to enhance contrast and ensure the logo and EMS stood out clearly, supporting both legibility and recognition for emergency personnel.

Microsite Design

ITI’s innovative microsite template for jurisdictions was designed to streamline the consumer experience by enhancing visibility of essential elements. Selected by our marketing team through anonymous voting, my design prioritizes clarity and user engagement.

At the forefront of the template is a vibrant colored text banner strategically placed to immediately capture viewer attention. This banner effectively communicates key information about the product, ensuring it is prominently displayed. Below that, I employed a bold yellow background to create contrast and draw focus to the Find A Kiosk feature. The headline, enhanced through scale and color, serves as a pivotal focal point guiding the viewer seamlessly through the interface.

The design remains clean and intuitive, incorporating large graphics to concisely illustrate the purpose of the search features. This approach ensures that users can easily navigate and understand the microsite’s functionality at a glance.

. . .

Through meticulous planning, thoughtful design choices, and iterative refinement based on feedback, I successfully delivered a microsite that effectively enhances the customer experience. This project showcases my ability to blend creativity with usability principles to achieve impactful digital solutions.

I kept the same colors as their North Carolina DMV website to help tie the two program’s identify together.

• Branding Guidelines: Established clear guidelines for consistent application of the brand across all kiosks and communication channels.

• Digital and Physical Assets: Designed program decals, kiosk screens, and created tv topper videos to ensure a seamless user experience and reinforce brand messaging.

2. Increased Usage: Encouraged greater usage of kiosks for accessing government services, contributing to improved public service accessibility and efficiency.

. . .

ITI Kiosk Social Media Content

Here I showcase a series of meticulously designed social media assets aimed at promoting our jurisdiction's kiosk programs. These assets serve to inform and engage our audience, emphasizing the unique benefits and opportunities offered by the SST program.

Each asset in this collection is crafted with a strategic blend of creativity and clarity. The design concept revolves around capturing attention through visually compelling graphics and concise messaging. By utilizing a cohesive color palette and typography consistent with our jurisdiction's branding, the assets maintain a professional and unified appearance across different platforms.

Through these social media assets, we have successfully increased awareness and understanding of the kiosk program among our target audience.

Mobile Wrap

This vibrant wrap design was crafted for A Hope Center's latest mobile unit, blending clarity with dynamic aesthetics. By focusing on simplicity, the design ensures essential information is easily accessible to viewers at a glance. The use of flowing curvilinear lines directs attention towards the prominently displayed logo and phone number, effectively communicating the unit's purpose and contact details with clarity and impact. The strategic placement of elements creates a sense of movement, guiding the viewer's eye towards key focal points and enhancing overall visibility both on the road and in static settings.

Oklahoma Driver Testing Posters

This project was part of an initiative to create educational posters for Oklahoma’s Driver Testing Program, with a focus on the Wichita Mountains region. The assignment included incorporating the provided body copy while visually tying the graphics to the area—most notably through the use of buffalo imagery.

I designed three posters, each with a unique layout strategy aimed at drawing attention to key information through the use of contrast, scale, and thoughtful placement. Across all three, I established clear visual hierarchy to guide the viewer’s eye and ensure the body copy remained easy to read.

…

Poster 1: Showcasing a bold buffalo silhouette filled with a scenic image, creating an eye-catching focal point tied directly to the region. I kept the surrounding space minimal and clean to prevent visual clutter and help the permit test text stand out. The use of dark blue and white provided high contrast, further supporting readability.

…

Poster 2: Strategically uses white negative space at the bottom to anchor the body copy and pull focus. That same approach is applied to the top text, which is placed behind the mountain imagery to add a sense of depth without sacrificing clarity.

…

Poster 3: Featuring one large scenic image as the background, with bold, high-contrast text in a larger scale to immediately draw the viewer’s attention to key information. Like Poster 2, the top text is partially tucked behind the mountain elements to add dimension while keeping the overall message clear and visually grounded.

This project showcases my ability to integrate regional identity with clear communication goals, using design fundamentals to create posters that are both visually engaging and functionally effective.

In-House Event & Campaign Graphics

In addition to external-facing work, I’ve created a wide range of internal graphics to support company culture, employee engagement, and special initiatives. These include everything from festive event materials to informative posters for internal programs. My approach focuses on crafting visually compelling, on-brand assets that not only communicate clearly but also bring energy and creativity to internal messaging.

. . .

Halloween Events Campaign – Poster, Video, and Web Header: To promote our internal Halloween events, I designed a cohesive set of assets including a printed poster, a promotional video, and a web header. Each piece communicated the specific event details while maintaining a unified visual style. I used a consistent set of illustrated elements throughout, rearranging them as needed to suit each format and ensure clarity.

The video took these static elements a step further by using movement and visual effects to bring them to life—creating a sense of excitement and drawing attention to the most important information. I used the spider webs to help guide the viewer’s eye across all assets, providing both structure and a sense of motion throughout the campaign.

. . .

Helping H.A.N.D.S. Food Pantry Donation Poster: To support our internal food pantry initiative, I designed a poster that informs employees how they can contribute to the Helping H.A.N.D.S. Food Pantry program. Since the theme centers around food donations, I illustrated various canned goods and used them to create a decorative border around the entire poster.

This approach not only tied visually to the subject matter but also helped frame the message, which draws the eye inward and makes the central text stand out. The middle section clearly outlines donation instructions and how to access the wish list, ensuring the design is both engaging and easy to navigate.

Kentucky License Plates

In collaboration with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, I had the privilege to lead the design efforts for refreshing one existing design and creating two completely new options to meet the state's updated aesthetic and functional requirements.

. . .

Design 1: Redesigned Bluegrass State Plate

Concept: This design pays homage to Kentucky's nickname, the "Bluegrass State," by focusing on its natural beauty and vibrant spirit. The design elements were refined to achieve a cleaner, more contemporary look, using a calming blue and green color palette to evoke the state's landscapes and open spaces.

Design Elements:

Soft gradient background representing the bluegrass fields under a clear Kentucky sky.

Updated, stylized rendering of the state and included Bluegrass State verbiage.

Strategic placement of the county tagline for optimal visibility and balance.

. . .

Design 2: New Team Kentucky In God We Trust Option

Concept: Upon Kentucky's request, this new plate uses the same background as the redesigned Bluegrass State. I replaced the state shape with their Team Kentucky logo,

Design Elements:

Iconic elements like the national motto, In God We Trust, integrated into the design.

Strategic use of negative space and color contrast to enhance visual impact.

. . .

Design 3: New United We Stand, Divided We Fall Option

Concept: Introducing a fresh standard plate option that appeals to a broader demographic while maintaining distinct Kentucky identity. This design features a minimalist approach aiming for universal appeal and clarity on the road.

Design Elements:

Clean, uncluttered layout with emphasis on readability and simplicity.

Iconic elements like the state seal integrated subtly into the design for authenticity.

Strategic use of negative space and color contrast to enhance visual impact.

. . .

Conclusion:

Each design presented here is crafted not only to comply with Kentucky and AAMVA (America's Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators) licensing standards but also to resonate with residents and visitors alike, reflecting the state's proud heritage and vibrant future. These new standard and redesign plate options aim to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that Kentucky's roads are adorned with plates that embody the spirit of the Bluegrass State.

Michigan Kiosk Decals

Objective: The goal of this project was to create visually compelling decals for kiosks that effectively communicate their purpose and attract users' attention.

Side Decal: The side decal features a white foreground showcasing car registrations, the most frequent type of renewal. Positioned in the foreground, it immediately grabs attention. In the background, a boat illustration highlights the range of registration options available, ensuring passersby understand the kiosk's versatility at a glance.

Front Decal: On the front decal, the focus was on clarity and simplicity. Illustrated icons represent various registration renewal types, presented in a contrasting blue color to emphasize their importance. This choice not only aligns with the brand's color scheme but also ensures the icons stand out prominently, aiding quick comprehension for users unfamiliar with the kiosk's functions.

Design Approach: By strategically placing essential information and using contrasting colors effectively, these decals aim to educate and engage potential users swiftly and effectively. The design prioritizes clarity, ensuring that even from a distance, the purpose of the kiosk is clear and inviting, encouraging interaction and usage.

Outcome: The resulting decals are designed to not only inform but also to visually enhance the kiosk's presence, making it a focal point for users needing quick and efficient service for their registration needs.

Florida Registration Renewal Notice Insert

This project showcases a meticulous approach to enhancing user engagement and brand consistency within Florida's MV Express identity. The objective was to design an insert for Florida's vehicle registration renewal notices that effectively communicates essential information while adhering to established branding guidelines.

Design Approach:

• Brand Cohesion: The design seamlessly integrates with Florida's MV Express branding guidelines, ensuring visual harmony and reinforcing the program's identity.

• Consistent Typography: Utilizing the same fonts as other Florida MV Express collateral maintains consistency across all communications, enhancing brand recognition.

• Strategic Use of Scale and Color: By utilizing scale, color, and strategic placement, the headline becomes the focal point, instantly drawing attention to critical information.

• Visual Hierarchy: Incorporating an orange background behind subhead text establishes a clear visual hierarchy, guiding the reader through the renewal process intuitively.

This design project not only meets functional requirements but also elevates the user experience through thoughtful design choices. By leveraging scale, color, and typography consistency, the insert clearly conveys the advantages of using the kiosk, provides information on kiosk locations, and guides users on where to seek additional information. It aims to facilitate a seamless interaction between Florida residents and the Florida MV Express program, enhancing clarity and usability during a critical administrative process.

Standing Up to POTS Campaign

I developed a series of design collateral for the non-profit organization Standing Up to POTS, which raises awareness about Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I designed and photographed all elements, including brochures, a magazine spread, and a poster, to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and the impact of POTS.

. . .

POTS Magazine Spread

The magazine spread is designed to raise awareness about POTS and the Standing Up to POTS organization. The headline spans both pages with a bold overlap and bleed-off effect, creating a dynamic visual impact. The use of negative space and hierarchical scaling ensures the message is both striking and clear, capturing the viewer's attention immediately.

. . .

POTS Poster

This poster aims to elevate awareness about POTS. The design places a powerful photograph in the foreground, with the vertical text positioned behind the subject. This arrangement highlights the photograph while ensuring the headline remains prominent through strategic color and placement. The minimalist design reinforces the poster's message and visual impact.

. . .

Understanding POTS Brochure

Strides of Hope Invite

Case Study

Challenge:

A Hope Center, a nonprofit pregnancy resource center, sought to increase awareness of their organization and their Earn While You Learn program through a targeted brochure. Additionally, they aimed to boost participation in their annual walkathon, Strides of Hope, by better understanding and appealing to their audience.

Approach:

Through a comprehensive review of past participant demographics, it became evident that the primary demographic for Strides of Hope comprised families, specifically parents and children. To resonate more deeply with this audience and create an event that families would eagerly participate in, a Disney-themed approach was selected. Disney themes are renowned for their universal appeal to children and their ability to transform events into memorable family experiences.

A key aspect of the approach was the creation of an invite for the Strides of Hope walkathon. To ensure authenticity and capture the essence of the event, all photographs used on the invite were taken by me. Each photograph was carefully selected to evoke excitement and convey the family-friendly atmosphere of the event.

Result:

The implementation of the Disney-themed invite, featuring authentic photographs, proved highly effective. Strides of Hope experienced a significant increase in attendance compared to previous years. The engaging and thematic design approach not only communicated the event's spirit effectively but also resonated deeply with families, motivating them to participate.

Conclusion:

This case study highlights the importance of authenticity and thematic alignment in graphic design for nonprofit organizations. By leveraging a Disney-themed approach and using original photography taken specifically for the event, A Hope Center effectively enhanced visibility for their programs and events while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for community involvement.

Through creative and visually compelling graphic design, A Hope Center successfully connected with their audience, reinforced their mission, and encouraged meaningful participation in Strides of Hope.

Wedding Invitation

This wedding collateral suite was designed to capture the bride’s vision and seamlessly weave together the elements of her special day. The project included a wedding invitation, RSVP card, bridal shower invitation, and thank you card, each piece thoughtfully designed to reflect the couple’s aesthetic and preferences.

. . .

Wedding Invitation

The bride envisioned an invitation that elegantly combined floral elements with a geometric shape. I achieved this by placing the vibrant flowers prominently in front of the geometric background, creating a striking focal point. The invitation was crafted using the bride's chosen color scheme, ensuring that the design resonated with her wedding theme. The result was an inviting and visually balanced piece that set the tone for the celebration.

. . .

RSVP Card

For the RSVP card, the bride desired a design that echoed the wedding invitation’s aesthetic. I accomplished this by maintaining the same color palette, floral illustrations, and geometric shape, ensuring a cohesive look across the suite. The RSVP card was designed as a cropped version of the invitation, allowing the floral elements to take center stage while the response details were elegantly positioned in the lower right-hand corner. This approach provided both continuity and clarity.

. . .

Bridal Shower Invitation

The bridal shower invitation built upon the established theme of flowers and geometric shapes, introducing slight variations to differentiate it from the wedding invitation. I adjusted the color scheme to create a distinct but complementary palette and repositioned the flowers to the top of the geometric shape. On the back, the diamond shape was solidified rather than outlined, with a background of small, repetitive spheres to add depth and a playful yet sophisticated touch.

. . .

Thank You Card

For the thank you card, I aimed to maintain the overall cohesion while introducing subtle variations. The design featured flowers exclusively at the bottom of the geometric shape, paired with a lighter color scheme to evoke a soft, heartfelt tone. This approach ensured the thank you card stood out as a unique piece while still aligning with the established visual theme.

. . .

Each piece of the wedding collateral was crafted with a focus on harmony and personalization. By integrating the bride’s preferences for floral elements and geometric shapes while adhering to her color scheme, I created a suite that was both cohesive and distinctive. The result was a collection that elegantly captured the essence of the wedding, enhancing the overall experience for the couple and their guests.
